Chris Carruba is a native Rhode Islander and found his passion for the craft working at the White Horse Tavern in Newport, Starting out as a dishwasher and working his way up through the stations. After working under Chef Kevin Gaudreau, Chris took a Sous Chef position with Chef Joe Hafner at Café Zelda.
Upon Returning from his military service Chris then took a position at Trattoria Simpatico and was Linked back up with Chef Gaudreau. In September of 2006 Chris was promoted to Executive Chef. Chris owes a lot of his knowledge to the great people he has worked with and diligent reading. He was invited to do the Dessert course for a Friends of the Beard House Wine Dinner, competed at the First Chef Smackdown Wine dinner, and has participated in the March of dimes for 4 straight years.
Chef Chris is an advocate of local and fresh ingredients, and Supporting local Farms, Agriculture and Fisheries.
